Make math accessible for everyone

Equatio transforms how students interact with math, empowering them to learn with confidence.

Digital and accessible math

Make sure every student can excel in math, regardless of their unique needs. By generating alt text for every equation, it supports low-vision, visually impaired and blind students. Its formula prediction feature makes writing math quicker and easier. It helps learners focus on understanding concepts instead of struggling with creating formulas, symbols and matrices digitally.

Student and Teacher working together on tablet

Create independent learners

Students can choose how they interact with math—whether by typing, handwriting, or speaking. Equatio’s speech input turns spoken math into written expressions, while math-to-speech reads equations aloud to enhance understanding. These tools build confidence and independence for students with dyslexia, dyscalculia or math anxiety.

Student using digital whiteboard

Visualize math problems

Bring math problems to life and make them easier to solve with the math whiteboard feature. This interactive tool lets students freehand and draw annotations, shapes, arrows and text entries. It helps students see how math concepts work visually, allowing them to creatively solve math problems in their own way.

This was the real turning point for me and my students, finally we could all learn math in a fully digital and inclusive way…it doesn’t take long for them to get it. I got some new students recently, and the kids around them have taught them the Equatio ropes.”

Math Teacher

"I would highly recommend Equatio to any and all math teacher in my school or throughout the district.

I am a Math teacher, therefore I use Equatio when making my lesson plans. I also have started implementing student use. I use the equation editor. As a math teacher this has been very helpful in allowing me to modify any lessons, worksheets, and games I feel like changing."

Director of Technology

"This is a must have extension for any paperless environment for math and science.

With our students using Chromebooks, it was very difficult for them to be able to digitally input math and science characters. Equatio provides a simple interface where students have multiple options on how to input: written on device, written on mobile device, autofill, typing, etc."

Frequently asked questions

Where does Equatio work?

Equatio works where you work - whether in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, websites, PDFs, or other digital platforms. We integrate seamlessly into the tools you already use, making math easier wherever you are.

Can Equatio work with my LMS?

Yes! With our Chrome extension, you can easily insert math into Rich Text Editors in many widely used LMS platforms like Canvas, D2L, Schoology, Blackboard, Moodle, and more. This offers a smoother experience than the LTI plugin. Additionally, we offer direct LTI integration with major LMS providers like Canvas, Schoology, and Brightspace for even more flexibility.

Is Equatio just for Math class?

No, Equatio can work across many subject areas. We have hundreds of chemistry compounds and physics formulas built right into our equation editor.

Is Equatio free to use?

Equatio has both a premium subscription and free version for users. With our premium subscription you will have access to a wealth of prediction, including formulas, matrices, and the ability to favorite items. You will also have access to alignment buttons, the Desmos graph calculator, the Copy Math As button, Mathspace (WebApp) for remote learning, and other premium features.

Can Equatio help students who are working remotely at home or in hybrid learning environments?

Yes. Equatio has a standalone web app which allows for teachers to instructionally design unique and engaging learning activities for students. Students can then respond to those assignments at home.

How does Equatio compare to MathType?

Equatio is the MathType alternative designed to support every learner. Unlike MathType, Equatio offers multiple input methods, including speech input, handwriting, and prediction, making it easier for students and educators to create and interact with math. It also integrates seamlessly with various platforms like Google Workspace, Windows, and Apple iOS, and features tools like the Screenshot Reader, and AI Forms Creator for a more accessible, versatile experience.

How does Equatio support math for visual spatial learners?

Equatio makes math concepts accessible for visual spatial learners. This is students who excel at understanding and processing information in a visual or spatial way. These learners often think in images, and they can visualize problems and solutions in their minds. Equatio helps by providing dynamic visual tools like graphs, geometric shapes, and drawings, which allow students to see how math concepts work. This helps turn abstract problems into interactive, understandable visuals. With Equatio Mathspace, learners can combine equations with visual elements, supporting their unique learning styles and encouraging creative problem-solving.
